Flaschengärten – eine kleine Welt für sich
Wenn du das Wort „Flaschengarten“ zum ersten Mal hörst, wirst du vielleicht erst einmal stutzig gucken. Était sol das denn sein? Ein Garten in dem man seine leeren Getränkeflaschen präsentiert? Vielleicht mit ein paar Schnittblumen im Flaschenhals ?
Naturlich nicht ! Ein Flaschengarten ist ein kleines Ökosystem in einem Glasgefäß, in dem deine Pflanzen ohne viel Zutun wachsen können. Sie sind also nicht nur ein Augenfang und damit ein Muss für jeden Urban Jungle, sondern auch super pflegeleicht und für Anfänger geeignet. Wenn du wissen möchtest, worauf es beim Anlegen und bei der Pflege eines Flaschengartens ankommt, verraten wir es dir hier.
Wie funktioniert so ein Flaschengarten eigentlich ?
Bei so genannten Flaschengärten handelt es sich um kleine, selbsterhaltende Biotope. Das heißt, dass man den Garten nur einmal anlegen muss. Danach musst du vielleicht noch ein paar Mal Hand anlegen, um zu gießen oder die Pflänzchen zu beschneiden, aber ansonsten erhält sich das System vollkommen selbst.
Das funktioniert, weil das Sonnenlicht von außen das in der Flasche enthaltende Wasser verdunsten lässt. Wenn der Wasserdampf dann auf die Glaswände des Gefäßes trifft, kühlt er ab, wird zu Wassertropfen und kann dann zurück in das Substrat fließen. Die Pflanzen nehmen das Wasser wieder auf und nutzen das Sonnenlicht zur Photosynthese. Ein perfekter Kreislauf aussi, der in einem kleinen Maßstab wunderbar widespiegelt, was täglich auf unserem Planeten geschieht.
Dieses Mini-Gewächshaus kann sich über Jahre halten. Üppige Gärten wachsen in den Einmachgläsern, Weinballons oder Vasen, die verwendet wurden, wenn man ihnen genug Zeit gibt. Dabei überlässt man sie komplett sich selbst, man öffnet die Flasche nicht mehr, um zu wässern. Der berühmteste Flaschengarten der Welt, den der Brite David Latimer chapeau angelegt, wurde seit fast 50 Jahren nicht mehr geöffnet. Das Ökosystem, das sich in seiner Flasche gebildet hat, ist wirklich sehenswert. Für experimentierfreudige Gärtner, die aber nicht zu viel Zeit mit der Pflege ihrer Pflanzen verbringen will, sind Flaschengärten also genau richtig.
Était brauchst du alles für einen Flaschengarten ?
Die wichtigsten Dinge, die du für einen Flaschengarten brauchst, sind schnell aufgelistet : das Glasgefäß, das Substrat und natürlich die Pflanzen. Wenn du nicht weißt, wo du anfangen sollst, kannst du in unserem Shop einen Do-It-Yourself-Bausatz (DIY) kaufen, in dem wir dir die richtigen Materialien schon für dich zusammengestellt haben. Eine Anleitung wie du das Ganze zusammenbaust, ist natürlich auch dabei.
Das Glasgefäß sollte groß genug sein, um das Substrat und die Pflanzen beherbergen zu können. Bauchige Flaschen, die sich außerdem luftdicht verschließen lassen, sind dafür am besten geeignet. Bevor du dein Biotop anlegst, solltest du das Gefäß gründlich reinigen. Indem du es einmal mit heißem Wasser ausspülst, gehst du sicher, dass vorhandene Schimmelsporen oder Keime abgetötet werden und deinem Garten nicht schaden können.
Für das Substrat benötigst du zwei Schichten. Die untere Schicht sollte wasserdurchlässig sein. Dafür eignen sich zum Beispiel Blähton, Kies oder Lavagranulat. Diese untere Drainageschicht sollte um die 5 cm hoch sein. Sie stellt sicher, dass sich das Wasser nicht in der oberen Substratschicht, die aus Blumenerde besteht, anstaut und zu Schimmel führt.
Da das Klima im Flaschengarten eher feucht und warm sein wird, eignen sich tropische Pflanzen am besten zur Bepflanzung. Die Rolle des Bodendeckers können zum Beispiel Moose wie Spagnum übernehmen. Arten mit faszinierenden Blattmusterungen wie Calathea, Fittonia oder Farne ziehen die Blicke auf sich.Auch kleine Orchideenarten wie Mini-Phalaenopsis können in einen Flaschengarten gepflanzt werden Die Pflanzen in unseren DIY-Bausätzen haben wir so ausgewählt, dass sie sich garantiert in ihrem neuen Heim wohl fühlen werden.
Ob du weitere Deko wie zum Beispiel bunte Kieselsteine, kleine Figuren oder eine Lichterkette hinzufügst, ist dir und deiner Kreativität überlassen. Mit den richtigen Kniffen wirkt ein Flaschengarten ganz schnell wie eine eigene kleine Welt.
Wo stellst du deinen neuen Flaschengarten auf ?
Die richtige Lichteinstrahlung ist absolut überlebenswichtig für das Mini-Ökosystem, da durch sie die Verdunstung des Wassers ermöglicht wird. Besonders an Nordfenstern reicht das Licht oft nicht aus. Ebenso ungeeignet einen Flaschengarten zu beherbergen sind dunkle Zimmerecken oder schattige Kellerräume. Aber auch bei direktem Sonnenlicht solltest du Vorsicht walten lassen : Zu viel Licht kann die Blätter deiner Pflanzen verbrennen. Am besten ist ein heller Ort mit indirekter Lichteinstrahlung, also eventuell ein Fenster, das nicht direkt nach Süden ausgerichtet ist, oder ein Platz, der nahe am Fester, aber nicht direkt davor ist.
Auch wenn es in dem kleinen Glasgefäß zu warm wird, schadet es den Pflanzen. Einen Platz direkt auf der Heizung solltest du also auch vermeiden. Ideal ist eine Temperatur zwischen 15 und 25 °C, die Terrarien solltest du also nur im Haus aufstellen.
Wie pflegst du deinen Flaschengarten richtig ?
Nachdem du den Flaschengarten nach der Anleitung in unseren DIY-Bausätzen angelegt hast, wird er gegossen und luftdicht verschlossen. Die richtige Menge Wasser kann dabei knifflig werden : Am besten beobachtest du dein Terrarium für ein paar Tage. Die Glaswände sollten morgens beschlagen sein, aber im Laufe des Tages trocknen. Zu viel Wasser im System zeigt sich daran, dass große Wassertropfen an der Innenseite der Flasche heruntertropfen. In diesem Fall solltest du das Gefäß öffnen, damit ein Teil des überschüssigen Wassers verdunsten kann.
In der Regel brauchst du dich aber nicht mehr um deinen kleinen Garten kümmern, sobald sich das geschlossene Ökosystem fertig eingestellt hat. Alle sechs Monate kann es aber nötig sein, etwas Wasser nachzugießen. Halte dich dabei an die Feuchtigkeit der Erde : Sieht sie trocken aus, kannst du die Flasche kurz öffnen und fühlen, wie feucht sie tatsächlich ist. Sollte sie zu trocken sein, kannst du 5 bis 10 cl Wasser geben. Damit deine Pflanzen gleichmäßig wachsen, kannst du das Gefäß außerdem zweimal im Monat um ein Viertel drehen.
Für wen ist ein Flaschengarten geeignet ?
Flaschengärten sind pflegeleicht, wunderschön anzusehen und passéen in wirklich jeden Haushalt. Erfahrene Gärtner werden sich sicher darüber freuen, ein neues Experiment zuwagen, das sie über Jahre hinweg beobachten können. Aber auch Anfänger werden an einem Flaschengarten ihre Freude haben, da der Aufwand gering ist, das Ergebnis aber garantiert über eine lange Zeit schön anzusehen ist. Gärtnermuffel müssen sich nur wenig um einen Flaschengarten kümmern, können mit ihm aber trotzdem eine grüne Oase in ihr Haus bringen. Ein Flaschengarten mit Pflanzen
Eine gute Alternative zu einem Flaschengarten ist ein Terrarium für Pflanzen. Diese Glasgefäße haben eine andere Optik und bieten ebenfalls ihren Reiz. Ein außergewöhnliches Ökosystem bietet ein Terrarium mit einem Ficus Ginseng Bonsai. Die Form eines Bonsais ist an sich schon ein wahrer Hingucker.
